Keynote Speaker
Ashley Anderson is a dance educator and choreographer based in Salt Lake City and recipient of the 2014 Mayor’s Artist Award in the Performing Arts.
Her choreography has been presented locally by the Rio Gallery, the BYU Museum of Art, Finch Lane Gallery, the City Library, and Preservation Utah (formerly the Utah Heritage Foundation at the Ladies’ Literary Club) as well as national venues including DraftWork at Danspace Project, BodyBlend at Dixon Place, Performance Mix at Joyce SOHO (NY); Crane Arts Gallery, the Arts Bank (PA); and the Taubman Museum of Art (VA), among others. Her work was also presented by the HU/ADF MFA program at the American Dance Festival (NC) and the Kitchen (NY).
Teaching credits include courses for the University of Utah, Utah Valley University, Salt Lake Community College, the American Dance Festival Six & Four Week Schools, Dickinson College Dance Theater Group, University of the Arts Continuing Studies, Westminster College and many K-12 schools and community centers. She is particularly honored to have instructed classes for Dancers with Disabilities for Tanner Dance under the mentorship of Joni Wilson — these experiences, in part, shaped her desire to represent Precinct 3 on the Salt Lake City School Board while continuing to work as an Artist-in-the-Classroom supported by the Salt Lake City Arts Council.
Ashley founded loveDANCEmore community dance events using the resources of ashley anderson dances, a registered 501(c)3. Her projects with loveDANCEmore are also shared in Utah’s visual art magazine, 15 BYTES, where she served as the dance editor until 2020
